In the last two years Los Angeles has solidified itself as a destination for great cocktails.  The city combines the best of classic speakeasy bars, with hand-cut ice—such as The Varnish-—to cocktail bars utilizing the freshest ingredients straight from local farms into the cocktail glass, like the Library Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel.  Los Angeles also offers eclectic options like the world-renowned speakeasy rum-focused bar La Descarga, which opened a year ago by the Houston brothers, and set up by Pablo Moex and Steve Livigni. In the midst of the diversity Los Angeles has to offer, the cocktail community is very tight here. Bartenders from all of the top spots in LA meet on a monthly basis to keep each other informed on all things happening within the industry.

This growing appreciation for great taste and amazing hand-crafted cocktails has built a knowledgeable base of people interested in cocktails and the cocktail culture in Los Angeles. This pressure from the consumer is driving the community to search for new ways to “raise the bar.”
